I know, I already told you about mE But…

I already have an “About Me” page. However, it’s not extremely detailed. I wanted to share more just in case you were wondering. I grew up in Brentwood, Tennessee, just south of Nashville. I came to Knoxville for college at UT. My freshman year, I stumbled into the wedding industry. I ended up spending every weekend working weddings instead of going to football games or going out with friends. The more I got into the industry, the more I loved it.

I made so many connections with vendors and couples that I decided I wanted to make my own brand. I Do… Weddings started in June 2019. I found a couple brides and started to grow my reputation and my vendor list. I started getting inquiries for the same date, so I decided I needed help. I reached out to some girls at UT, and I found my first coordinator. So in November, the I Do… Crew started and we did seven weddings in 2019.

In the beginning of 2020, I decided I wanted to grow even more. I reached out to some more girls, and found two more coordinators going from two to four. The pandemic hit causing us to reschedule a bunch of weddings, but we still ended up doing twenty weddings. We also ended up finding a part-time assistant, going up to nine coordinators, and doing eighty-five weddings. We were also featured in the Haslam Magazine - University of Tennessee’s College of Business.

In the article you’ll see I was still focused on a career in accounting. At some point, I ended up getting this crazy idea I wanted to move to Chicago. I wanted to use my accounting degree and go work in public accounting. I know what you’re thinking. I’ve heard it before, “Accounting? You’re crazy” or “Accounting? Good for you, I could never.” Some of you may be wondering, “I thought you were a wedding planner, why are you working in accounting?” I was so sure that’s what I wanted to do. I went through grad school and was so prepared to move and work in the corporate world.

But eventually, in a very non-planner manner, I made that big scary decision. I reworked the numbers, did some math, and prayed A LOT. I finally decided to turn down my corporate job and stay in Knoxville to go full-time with my small business. And it has been the best decision ever. I started strategizing how I wanted to increase my business and grow my presence in the community.

I have found that referrals are the easiest way to gain business in this industry and lucky for me, I’m good at making friends. Every wedding venue we have worked at we ask about getting on their list. We love working at new venues in new areas. While each of my coordinators has their favorite venue, we’re never going to say no to switching it up.

Since making the big leap to stay in Knoxville, we have also been featured on Channel 10 WBIR, Channel 6 WATE - Living East Tennesee, Wedding Rule - Top 9 Planners in Knoxville, and CanvasRebel
